Integrated NTC + CAAN Syllabus

This page combines the Nepal Telecom Level 7 Telecom Engineer syllabus and the CAAN Seventh Level Electronic & Telecommunication Engineering syllabus into one study outline.

Best Way to Study Both

  1. Finish Both topics first. These give maximum return because they serve both exams.
  2. Add the CAAN only topics if CAAN is near or if you want aviation coverage.
  3. Add the NTC only topics if NTC is near, especially mathematics, EMT, control, signal processing, switching/signaling and telecom traffic.
  4. Keep laws and institutional awareness separate because the organizations are different.

CAAN-Only Topics You Should Read

These are the most important CAAN additions that are not covered, or not covered clearly, in the NTC syllabus.

High Priority

  • Civil aviation GK and institutions: Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, civil aviation in Nepal, air transport and tourism development, ICAO, IATA and aviation-related international organizations.
  • CAAN laws and regulations: Aviation Policy 2063, Tourism Policy 2065, Civil Aviation Act 2015, Civil Aviation Regulations 2052, CAAN Act 2053, CAAN Civil Aviation Regulations 2058, CAAN employee, financial, airport service fee and security regulations.
  • Aviation CNS systems: communication, navigation and surveillance in Air Traffic Management, HF communication, NDB, DVOR, DME, ILS, MLS, augmentation systems, PSR, SSR, MSSR, ADS-B and airborne navigation equipment.
  • Radar for aviation: radar types, range equation, direction indication, radar display, Doppler effect and MTI radar.
  • Solar power system: PV materials, photovoltaic conversion, mono/poly crystalline cells, modules, panels, arrays, output factors, charge controller/regulator and safety.
  • Test equipment: RF field strength, RF power output, modulation measurement, VSWR, earth resistance, spectrum analyzer and oscilloscope.

Medium Priority

  • Extra electronic devices: Tunnel, Varactor, Zener, Diac, Triac, Bridge, Impatt, Gunn and Photo diodes; UJT; SCR; Clapp oscillator; Klystron and Magnetron; emitter, clipper, collector and clamper circuits.
  • Extra communication topics: CDMA, FDMA, DSSS, pulse modulation and frequency hopping.
  • Power supply system details: diesel, petrol, gas and thermal generators, storage batteries, voltage/current regulators, inverters, UPS, SMPS and isolation transformers.
  • Optical installation and safety: optical cable laying precautions, handling safety, testing and related measuring tools.
  • ICT hardware depth: controller design, hardware and microprogram control, instruction sets, addressing modes, I/O and interrupt servicing.

Lower Priority But Still CAAN Specific

  • Public management, administrative accountability, public policy cycle, citizen's charter and public service delivery.
  • Land Acquisition Act 2034, Prevention of Corruption Act 2059 and Public Procurement Act/Regulations from the CAAN law list.
